Neutronics Analysis
Supporting safe and efficient design through neutron transport, shielding, and dose evaluation.
Overview
EFAN provides neutronics analysis services for nuclear fusion and nuclear facilities. Using MCNP and TOPMC, we perform neutron transport, shielding, and radiation protection analyses, covering all stages from conceptual design to detailed engineering and safety assessment.
Analytical Methods & Tools
- Neutron transport analysis (Monte Carlo, discrete ordinates method)
- Shielding design analysis (dose rate mapping, activation evaluation)
- Neutron flux distribution and energy spectrum analysis
- Tools used: MCNP, TOPMC
Required Information
- Geometry model (CAD STEP/IGES or MCNP input format)
- Material information (composition, density, compatible with nuclear data library)
- Neutron source conditions (location, spectrum, intensity, operation time)
- Evaluation criteria (shielding dose limits, material irradiation, TBR etc.)
Deliverables
- Neutron flux distribution maps (spatial and spectral)
- Dose rate maps (during operation and after shutdown)
- Activation evaluation reports (lifetime, waste classification)
- Shielding design and TBR (Tritium Breeding Ratio) evaluation reports

Example: Neutronic heating distribution analysis of a tokamak fusion reactor (including shielding and dose evaluation)
